The Tour of Tameside is a four day festival of running which takes in the best sights and sounds that Tameside has to offer. A variety of running routes and terrains challenge participants both physically and mentally, with all stages having been carefully chosen to be achievable for runners of all abilities.
The original week-long Tour was founded by marathon legend Dr Ron Hill MBE in 1981, the event was a huge hit and we are extremely proud of the support shown by our sponsors, supporters and of course the participants in previous races.
Stage 1 of the Tour of Tameside is the X-Trail 10k. You will run on various terrains across 2 beautiful country parks. A must-do trail to consider.
Stage 2 of the Tour of Tameside is the Hell on the Fell which covers 6 miles on the most iconic element of the tour. Don’t be fooled by the first mile, there is an uphill battle ahead!
Stage 3 of the Tour of Tameside brings you The Hero Half Marathon. Runners embark on a 13.1 mile journey which includes running along the Longdendale Trail which is ideal for achieving a PB time – if your legs have survived the Fell!
Stage 4 of the Tour of Tameside is the finale! The Dr Ron Hyde 7 is a challenging finish to the gruelling 4 days that runners have faced. An atmospheric start/finish on Market Street is followed by celebrations in Hyde Town Hall where runners can toast their achievement
